Mondaiji and Hyouketsu Details

Lots of people asking lots of questions across different boards leads to a lack of information for those who don’t happen to find my forum-specific (or otherwise) answers to them, so I’ll be answering them with this post.

  1. I will be part of the Mondaiji project that Firebird has already started on Baka-Tsuki ( I have already received their permission as shown below (original link:

Taken from Firebird’s talk page on Baka-Tsuki:

I’m just going to assume I can jump in and translate on Mondaiji if I just put my name on the registration page. Since you allowed Drinkingwater to “ninja volume 2 of the series”. Mizuho (talk) 00:22, 18 April 2013 (CDT)

Hi! Thank you for participating! Welcome on board! Firebird (talk) 00:57, 18 April 2013 (CDT)

  1. I will be moving at volumes at a time. That is to say that I will finish a Mondaiji volume, then a Hyouketsu one, then back to Mondaiji. Repeat that until I hit the end of one series, then all of my efforts go into the leftover one.
  2. Hyouketsu apparently has three translated volumes (available on CE Translation’s blog: I will thus be starting from volume 4. Before I begin translating this, I will have to read through the first three volumes, so please bear with me on that front.
  3. There will be a collaborator for the Mondaiji project on my end, but they will not be starting work until somewhere in mid-May because of college. I expect a general boost in translation rate at that point.
  4. Hyouketsu will be released on this blog only. I’ll try to ask if I can submit CE Translation’s already translated volumes to Baka-Tsuki, but otherwise I just don’t like that incomplete feeling of having three volumes without links. Note that I don’t need to do the same for Mondaiji because I watched the anime a while back when I was trying to get a feel for all the series.
  5. A version of the translations that is eBook-readable will be provided via some means.

If you have anymore questions regarding these two projects, please post them in the comments to this post and I will get around to addressing them within this post or with a reply (or both).

On a side note, if you hadn’t seen it in the last post, NanoDesu’s team have stated that they will be picking Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? back up in the summer. Look forward to it.

Also, I’d like to get another editor. I’d like them to be stylistic this time though; I’ll leave the grammar trouble to AshenRaven.

Noticed that somebody asked this

I looked on the Animesuki forums and saw this question:

I noticed that you use kamui in Chapter 5, is it the alternate translation for Divine Power?

Why yes, yes it is.

While we’re at it, all of the alternative names and such are here on Baka-Tsuki:

Partway through the translation, I also stopped translating the kanji versions of the names. Some of them mean the exact same (eg. “Tasogare no Majo” as “Dusk Witch”) while some are quite different from the furigana provided (eg. “The Sword That Pierces Truth” as “Vorpal Sword”). I don’t think it requires detailing, but you can just run the kanji on the Baka-Tsuki through to Jisho or even Google Translate (gasp!…but it’s actually not bad for single words and short phrases).

EDIT: Just a note that I didn’t answer this directly on Animesuki because I can’t post on that thread without some kind of moderator approval. And the last time I tried posting on it, I don’t remember seeing it get approved.

How did this happen?

And the winner is…Hyouketsu Kyoukai no Eden with an overwhelming 63 to 23! But don’t be sad, people who voted for Zombie. Here’s a recent e-mail I got from NanoDesu:

Once again, I wanted to remind you that our group will be taking up Zombie again in the summer, and that it would be in your best interest to not pick it up yourself. If you have a tie, then you should go with the other option, considering it will be much easier for you to translate Hyouketsu without stepping on anybody’s toes.

Stepping on peoples’ toes is just what I do though (hah). I foresaw Hyouketsu winning anyway.

With the advent of a TIE!?…we’re going to have one last polling with the two series tied in first place.

This will last for approximately 24 hours. After that, I will take the final values. In the case of ANOTHER vote, I will take the first one to get a tie breaker.

Finals stats:

Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? – 80
Hyouketsu Kyoukai no Eden – 80
Madan no Ou to Vanadis – 63
Gate – Thus the JSDF Fought There – 19
Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo – 4

Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance Volume 8, Afterword

—Princess maidens that serve a dragon may not wear underwear.

To all who have taken this book into their hands, truly thank you very much!

We have reached the eighth volume of “Seirei Tsukai no Blade,” “The Night Before the Decisive Battle”.

Having won through the <Tempest> admirably, <Team Scarlet> returns to the floating island. In preparation for the approaching finals, Kamito takes a short rest — or so he thinks, but he ends up on a date with the strongest ace from the <Knights of the Dragon Emperor>, Leonora Lancaster!?

Last time and the time before that, flashy battles were happening so this time I delved into the heroines’ pasts and the date with a heroine from another team. Of course, I have various things prepared for the finals which start next volume, so all of you who like battles, please look forward to it!

Thanks and announcements. At present, Hyouji Yuitsusei-sensei’s comic version of “Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance” is serialized in Comic Alive’s magazine. Please somehow support the invigorating battle scenes and insanely cute heroines that Hyouji-sensei draws.

Sakura Hanpen-sensei, thank you for your wonderful drawings as well. Leonora’s armpits on the front cover look very good. Others that were drawn for the first time like Milla Bassett, Kamito from the past, Lolislet (← I wanted to try saying it), etc. were drawn very cutely.

To my editor Shouji-sama, I am always really relying on you. The rumored “Light Novel King ☆ Seiya” with a main character that seems to be modeled after Shouji-san is serialized in Comic Gene and is enjoying great popularity (advertisement).

Lastly, to all the readers. By receiving all your support, “Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance” has reached its eighth volume. Sakura Hanpen-sensei, Hyouji Yuitsusei-sensei and Shouji-san, I will be going all out from here on, so I’m counting on you!

I read all the impressions from the cellphone survey carefully and I’m really happy to receive them. As usual, in the popularity rankings, Est and Restia are strong, and Kamito who appeared on the cover of the seventh volume also rose in popularity. From the team’s ojou-samas, Ellis rose a little and after that, the rest feel average. Continue reading

Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance Volume 8, Chapter 5 – The Night Before the Decisive Battle

With the advent of this post, voting on the second stage of the poll comes to a close. I will report the status of the poll later in another post.

EDIT: I noticed that I forgot the afterword, so I’ll actually post that first, then close the polling.

Part 1

Evening. Dusk hung over <Ragna Ys> which was floating in Astral Zero’s skies.

Having spent a turbulent day with Leonora, Kamito returned with Ellis and Fianna, who happened to be at the pool, to the castle they were staying at.

After this, the oracle concerning the finals would be delivered by the five spirit princesses at the <Divine Ritual Institute>’s <Grand Shrine>. They would convene once with the entire team to discuss their plans for what was to come.

He showered then went to Claire’s room and knocked.

“Claire, it’s about time.”

“Yes, the preparations are already complete. You may enter.”

He opened the door and found Claire and the others sitting atop the bed playing Old Maid.

“I win. That makes 17 wins with 2 losses.”

Claire tossed the cards.

“O, One more time!” Continue reading

Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance Interlude 2 – Team Inferno

Continuing however deeply into the cavern—

“The top brass of the Alphas Empire have agreed to provide a new military spirit. But any further cooperation is impossible—”

Facing the wordless back of her master, Lily Flame continued to give her report.

“—Ahaa, a new toy is finally coming. I can finally play with onii-sama.”

The one who opened her mouth was not Lily’s master, but the cute girl walking beside her.

Muir Alenstarl — the second-place <Monster> of the Instructional School.

“I’ll break anyone and everyone that gets near onii-sama ♪”

While glaring sidelong at Muir who was smiling innocently, Lily sighed.

The stronghold assault spirit <Colossus>, the wide-area annihilation spirit <Garuda> — of the three the empire had lent to them, Muir had already used up two. Of course, their results in the real battle had been adequate, but the protests of the empire’s top brass were stronger than expected.

“I don’t care how many military spirits from a former era we break. Either way, the world will change with this time’s <Blade Dance>.” Continue reading
